Having recently moved to the area, I am a new recruit to HACG and its committee. It is  a very welcoming, friendly and active group with a really impressive range of activities, and I’m very glad to be involved.

HACG embraces a wide range of media – in my case, carving sculptures in stone. These are usually either abstract or semi-representational on natural themes. I sometimes like to incorporate letter-cutting or other materials such a glass. They are generally relatively small (though I have done a number of much larger commissions, some of them illustrated here) and suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

My Style

My pieces tend to evolve as I work on them, and curves, shadow lines and texture are as important as overall shape. I particularly like working in limestones, which vary tremendously in hardness, grain and colour depending on where they are from.
